INTERVENTION
STRUCTURED INTERVENTION: is a process of presenting reality to an addicted individual by significant concerned and caring people in a receivable way. Those involved are armed with factual non-judgmental data about the drinking/using and specific treatment options or consequences.
This can be highly emotional for all involved and requires planning and education about the process to improve chances of success.
STEP ONE
An initial meeting is set up with the principal members to discuss the problem and explain steps to be taken as well as determine participants and script preparation.
STEP TWO
The second meeting is with all participants and explains the process and a practice run at doing the intervention. As part of this meeting a treatment course will be determined. A date for further preparation or the actual intervention time and location is set.
STEP THREE
All participants are in attendance at least one hour before arrival of concerned individual. At this time any last concerns or preparation for any unforeseen outcomes are discussed.
Addicts in our lives show some of these behaviours; Withdraw socially, tardiness, moodiness, decrease in interests and hobbies, irritability, unreliable, unpredictable, financial problems, family problems, job losses, marital problems, isolating, increased accidents, increased negativity about work, criminal charges, chews gum or breath mints, improbable excuses, takes longer to do less, uneven work habits, missed deadlines, excessive sick days, irresponsible behaviour, missed birthdays or anniversaries, difficulty recalling mistakes, difficulty with instructions/procedures, violence, appearance slips, personal care slips,

- Follow a monitored follow up program as designed by your counsellor
- Make my recovery my primary responsibility
- Submit to random drug testing
- Develop recovery plan with counsellor
- Abstain from the use of all mood altering chemicals

I understand that in order for me to be gainfully employed I must:
- Successfully complete an assessment and treatment program if required.
- Follow a monitored recovery plan as determined by counsellor.
- Make recovery my primary responsibility in my life.
- Submit to random drug testing.
- Attend required follow up group and counselling.
- Abstain from the use of any and all mood altering substances.
